Candoc Bids farewell to Monday chats

Hi all,

It’s with a somewhat heavy, but otherwise optimistic heart that I am writing to let you know that the three Moderators: Alanna, Terri and Sara have decided to conclude our adventure in tweetchats. With the upcoming changes to the tweetchat platform, the uncertainty of having a new platform and the lack of participation in our chats we have decided to nix them from our regular schedule.

Should we find an acceptable chat host, we will be hosting several special chats over the coming months with guests who will be answering your questions about the topic at hand.

Over the next few months we will be posting more blog posts, and updating twitter more regularly with Canadian centric information about all things diabetes.

In the meantime, we highly encourage you to attend #DSMA chats on Wednesday nights from 9-10pm EST.

We proudly stand behind DCAF and are happy to be their unofficial Canadian partners. Check out the DCAF website, and make a donation if you can.

Another great organization that we support fully is Connected In Motion. They support people living with diabetes through fostering a great community through outdoor education. Visit that site and make a donation as well.

If you have any questions you can always find us on twitter, comment here or check in with our moderation team: @terrileigh , @NitaCure4T1D and @alannaswartz

Thanks for the support you have shown us.

-Alanna

#candoc Tweetchat for Monday, February 18

This Monday’s #candoc tweetchat theme will be all-things Mental Health related. Sara will be hosting the chat at 8pm EST.

In keeping with the Bell Canada Let’s Talk campaign to raise awareness about depression and other mental health issues, I have borrowed questions from a DSMA chat last May.

Q1-Do you know anyone who has experience with diabetes and depression?  What are the sign and symptoms?

Q2-How do you cope once you recognize the signs/symptoms (in yourself and others)? What kind of support was most helpful? HCP? Peers?

Q3-What resources would your ecommend for people with diabetes and depression? List your favourites and why they have worked.

Q4-What can we do for each other when we see the signs/symptoms in our loved ones or peers? What would you want someone to do for you?.
