#candoc Tweetchat: Monday, December 10, 2012

We all have one, whether you are a person with diabetes or a parent of a child with diabetes, no, it’s not your birthday, although you have one of those too,  I am speaking about your Diaversary (diagnosis anniversary).

Depending on who you are, you may celebrate it or just let it pass by just like it is any other day out of the year.

Here are this weeks questions (with help from the #DSMA archive).

Q1. How has living with diabetes shaped you into the person you are today?

Q2. What do you do on your diaversary – if anything? Do you celebrate?

Q3. What are three words you would describe your life with diabetes….

Q4. Do you think there will be a cure for diabetes in this life time?

If we have time:

Q5. If you could dedicate a song to diabetes, what would it be? and why?

Monday’s #CANDOC chat topics

This week we’re talking about diabetes organization! Remember, the chat takes place from 8PM-9PM EST. Hashtag: #CANDOC

Here are some of the questions:

1. Do you have a designated section in your home for your diabetes supplies? Where is it?

2. How do you organize your supplies?

3. What are some tips you have for those new to diabetes when it comes to keeping things in order?

4. How do you organize your diabetes supplies when on the go? What’s in the travel bag and how do you keep things neat and clean?

5. For safety reasons, do you have any written instructions for loved ones? How do you make sure they know what everything is and how to use it?

Keep these in mind, and can’t wait for the chat Monday!

CanDoc chat for the week of November 19, 2012

Hey, Hey, Hey, this week’s topic is the Holi-D-ays!

We are trying something different this week.  We are posting the questions a few days prior to the chat both on here and on our new Facebook page.  If you haven’t been to ‘Like’ us, I suggest you do so.

The winter holiday season is fast approaching and we all know that there is that one particular piece of food that we can’t miss each year.  Mine is pumpkin pie.  There are fights over the pies my mother makes between myself and Ryan. Now Marcus loves the stuff minus the whipped cream and crust.

Here are the questions (in no particular order).

Q1. What is the ONE dish/dessert that you can’t live without during the holiday season?

Q2. If you are going to a friends/family’s house for dinner, do you eat before or bring your own plate to make sure you don’t eat too many yummy things?

Q3. How do you deal with the Diabetes Police during the holi-d-ays? *Diabetes Police being anyone who watches what you eat and asks the dreaded question, ‘Are you sure you should be eating that?’ or anything along those lines.*

Q4. What are you looking forward to the most this holiday season?

There are only a guideline, the questions may change during the chat depending on which way the chat is headed.

CanDoc chat for the week of October 15, 2012

This week we will be covering travel with Diabetes.

As anyone who lives with Diabetes it can be a very unwanted companion on a daily basis.  Traveling with it tagging along can be cumbersome and a royal pain in behind. There are also on rare occasions that it is a true blessing. Go figure!
